The VIDA EU Trading Scheme Conference will be held on January 9, 2025, in the historic city of Prague, Czech Republic. This prominent event will bring together key stakeholders from the carbon market, government agencies, industry associations, and energy sectors to discuss the future of emissions trading in Europe.

We are proud to announce that our CEO, Filip-Daniel Petric, will deliver a highly anticipated presentation, unveiling long-awaited insights into the emerging EU ETS2 market, set to begin in 2027. Unlike the existing EU ETS1, which primarily regulates emissions from large industrial installations and power generation, ETS2 will expand its scope to include critical sectors such as buildings, road transport, energy, and manufacturing not covered under ETS1, as well as select sectors tailored to individual country regulations.

In addition to ENCOSE, the expert panel will feature distinguished representatives from the Ministry of Environment of the Czech Republic, the Heating Association of the Czech Republic, and the Union of Independent Petroleum Workers, ensuring a well-rounded and diverse discussion.

The conference will comprehensively cover key topics, including:

  • EU ETS: Current market dynamics and future challenges.
  • EU ETS2: Market design, trading mechanics, and policy implications.
  • CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism): Its impact on international trade and carbon competitiveness.

Our presentation will provide one of the first in-depth explorations in Europe of how trading of allowances will function within the ETS2 framework. Key points include:

  • How the Trading System Works: Insights into auctions, the secondary market, and available trading products.
  • Market Price Mechanisms: Strategies for mitigating the risk of rapid price increases.
  • Supply and Demand Analysis: A comparison of projected supply volumes per year versus demand derived from historical emissions data and future emissions scenarios.
  • Price Forecasting: A summary of analytical results, supporting data, and evidence-based arguments for anticipated price trends.

We look forward to sharing our expertise and engaging in dynamic discussions that will shape the future of sustainable carbon markets in Europe.
