The European Biomethane Week 2025, held from 13 to 17 October in Brussels and organised by the European Biogas Association, brought together leading voices from across Europe’s renewable gas sector, from producers and traders to policymakers, investors, and technology innovators. The event aimed to accelerate biomethane deployment, strengthen market access, and drive Europe’s transition toward a circular and competitive energy system.

ENCOSE Ltd was among the participants, engaging actively in high-level discussions and networking sessions throughout the week. Our team took part in the sessions certified by the European Biogas Association on biomethane certification and trade, deepening our technical and regulatory understanding of sustainability documentation, proof-of-origin mechanisms, and cross-border traceability frameworks. This certification further reinforces ENCOSE’s role as a specialised compliance and trading partner across EU renewable energy and carbon markets.

The event also provided valuable networking opportunities with traders, technology providers, and solution developers who are shaping the next generation of biomethane production and trading infrastructure. On the trading side, discussions highlighted how cross-border policy discrepancies create arbitrage opportunities and liquidity challenges in renewable gas certificates and physical delivery markets. From the producers’ perspective, we heard compelling insights into how stationary biomethane plants are optimising every unit of output, exploring new monetisation pathways through CCU, digestate valorisation, heat recovery, and integration with carbon credit schemes.

Overall, European Biomethane Week 2025 reaffirmed biomethane’s central role in Europe’s decarbonisation pathway and showcased the innovation and ambition driving the sector forward, values that align perfectly with ENCOSE’s commitment to building the next generation of sustainable energy trading and compliance solutions.
